Flower Flower - Mi Album Review

So here it goes. I did this for YUI's album and I'll do it for Flower Flower.
Let's beginin!

Negai
So, the album starts with Negai.
A soft song with a storng bass and yui's voice almost trembling in the beginning. The bass and the piano really did a really great job in this one. yui seems almost like is singing directly in your ear in this song (if you are hearing it with the proper equipment...I hope you are). The guitar are fantly there, but I guess they wanted to showcase yui's raw voice in this. Which, is good. I missed the raw-like sound in her voice. Good song.

Kamisama
Oh my F****** God!
This song is and forever will be my fav song inside the band's work. All the instruments are just right and her voice...let me say, yui's voice might be naturally soft, but she was made for this types of songs.
And then the music stops just for a second and starts in the chorus. Which is amazing!!! Come on, give it a listen.
This song mighth not be so good for those who prefer slong songs but, well, we have Negai and a lot of slow songs in front of us.

Kuuki
Okay, the band said this was an experimental album, right. But this is one of the most experimental in the album beacause...."so down down down down"! What? Why does a coockie puts you down? Or is she eating the coockie because she is "so down down down down". And the kittie noises behind her voice? Did you hear me. And then goes the instrumentals who are suddenly cut by her cute soft voice to get place to her beautiful raw voice. The instruments are good, I think but the song in itself is all over the place.
I still like it. But this music puts me a little "sleepy sleepy sleepy sleepy".

Tomei na Uta
Onto the next one and we have "Tomei na Uta".
This music, weirdly as it seems, remembers me of YUI's "Please Stay With Me". Someone? Okay, it's just me. Well, maybe it's because her voice it's really soft in the begining and and then builds-up slowly until the chorus. The piano was doing it's thing in this song. Good job. To say the the truth, at first, I found this one boring but now it's strangly touching. Like, when I listen to it, I want to cry. One of those songs who makes you think about your life even though you don't know the lyrics at all.

Ohayou no kiss wo
And we come to the goodmorning kiss that I know some of you wanted yui to give you. Yeah, I know, don't try to deny it XD
This is a soft song so, don't put it as your alarm clock or else you'll be late. We can hear a classic guitar in this one and, that's it, a celo. In this festival of strings, the other instruments are almost forgoten. And then yui whispering again on our ears. Good soft song.

Suiteki
And we start with a very sad toning but yui comes and breaks it up. Once again whispering on our ears. Some parts of this song gives me a vibe of "Taylor Swift". Some parts, I said. I liked the break that yui's voice brings everytime the intruments are getting to emotional. And then she goes into her super soft voice and that's the part that gives "Taylor Swift" vibes. In this song, I think, that the instruments were on the spotlight but, of course, you can't ignore when yui is singing into your ear.

Subarashii Sekai
Subarashii Sekai is between my 5 fav songs on "Mi". And you say "Yeah, because it's similiar to YUI's work." That's in some way true. This feels like a "coming home" song because it's similiar to YUI's songs but at the same time, we have that arcadian songs sound in the background that gives more to it to the song.
It's just a fun song. I like it!

Seki wo Tatsu
This is a song that could feet in a freaky movie...where the singer was singing underwater. Really...do you imagine if they did a PV for this music?
Not saying it's a bad song...it's just one of those songs you take time to get used to it. And then it comes the tatatatata in the middle of the song...which I love. The bass and the piano doing their freak song and then it breaks in the electric guitar and yui's pure voice. Untile the bass and the piano start to do their freak thing again and yui's underwater again too.

Hikari
I had high hopes for "Hikari" even before I listened to the preview. Just because of the name. And my hopes were distroyed when I heard the preview. For those who don't sh*t about japanese "hikari" means "light" and it's one of my fav song of miwa. It's too a character's name on one of my stories. So, as I treasure miwa's song and my precious little girl named Hikari, I was disappointed with this song. Until now, it's the song I don't like the most in this album. Though is long like hell.

Kimi no Koto
And we start with I guess yui playing classic guitar with hints of piano.
This song has no effects. Just a soft and heart-warming song. And, in my opinion, "Seki wo Tatsu" and "Hikari" were lucky to be between "Subarashii Sekai" and "Kimi no Koto". I talked of "safe nets" in one of my others reviews for musics that sucked. I'm not saying "Hikari" and "Seki wo Tatsu" suck but they were lucky or very smart on putting that two very experimental songs between "Subarashii Sekai" and "Kimi no Koto".

Start Line
Oh, ya'll now I love this song and I know ya'll love this song too. Okay, if you think as "Mi" as an experimental album, this song might look like a little boring but, can you say you don't go "Staaaaarto Lini" (because it's like that she says it, I'm not writing it wrong) when the song goes into the chorus. You'll know the lyrics soon enough. You'll see.
As you might figure it out already, this is in on my top 5 with Kamisama. I'll listen to it gladly everyday.

Tsuki
And we are almost finishing. Tsuki, an older timer. Frankly, I have no opinion of this song. It's like saying "hi" to someone who you know for a long time. You know it so well you don't have nothing more to say about it.
I'm so used to this song, I already consider it as maybe another one of my fav in this album. If you don't understand, you haven't been following FF right because this song is really and old-timer. Maybe to reasure the listeners in the end of the album.

Bye Bye
Stupid music made me confuse since the beginning!
All the drums and piano and bass sturr with a spoon. Instrumentalwise, this music is the most experimental.
It's weird but then it comes the chorus and bam! go-up in my rank like rocket.
I love this music almost as much as "Kamisama"
Good ending for the album.

Top 5
  • Kamisama
  • Bye Bye
  • Start Line
  • Subarashii Sekai
  • Tsuki
